A lot of women in today’s business world struggle to be recognized as a person that knows what they are doing because they are a woman and it makes them struggles to launch with what they do best and actually show what they can achieve because of the qualifications that they have.

The stereotype that women can’t just get a job because they are as smart as men or even smarter makes it difficult for women to show their skills because of the stigma and stereotypes that are there.

Sport is one area that is seen to be male dominant and that if you are a women you will only excel in sport related careers for women. This is not only found in men as women who have been through the same thing of being pre judges also have the stereotypes to women who come in that they sleep their way to the top or they have someone that is in a higher position helping them out.

When you want to achieve in a male dominated industry always:
1. Find a mentor to guide your career
Many women who have been successful in navigating their way in a male dominate industry have made mistakes, so instead of repeating their same mistake, learn from them so you don’t repeat the same mistake.

2. Display Confidence
People who display confidence no matter what gender usually get noticed more, but don’t be cocky. There’s a thin line between confidence and cockiness.

3. Have an Edge
Find your edge in life and cultivate it, meaning don’t hide it so it’s not seen, but make sure its seen so you don’t seem too demanding for help cause you don’t have edge.

4. Learn from Successful Male Counterparts
Have confidence, speak up and watch and mirror successful male counterparts.

5. You Have to Want It
Decide before getting into a male dominated industry if you want it and if this is what you can’t go a day without doing. That way you stay focused and nothing anyone says will make you lose focus on being great at what you love.

6. Gender Balance
Your gender will neither help you nor hurt you if you do not possess the baseline qualifications. Women need to also be aware of not only of their own growth, but that of those around them.

Make sure that being in a male dominated industry doesn’t scare you because when you give in your 100% in whatever you do and you actually do it well, you will definitely reap the rewards.
